Martin's dream is to stage large open events around the world.
"I think the battles we fight with each other are just a reflection of our own inner conflicts. Nelson Mandela is one of my biggest role models because he is proof that even if you don't like what someone else does, you can learn to care for the actual person. I want to help people learn how to do that.
My dream is to hold large open events for people from all over the world. My goal is to start before I'm 40, which will be in 2014."
In 2004, Martin took his first step towards realising his dream with an event called "Light Your Fire". His goal was for 500 people to walk barefoot over burning coals in one evening.
Martin had chosen a hall in Copenhagen as the venue for this event. But he couldn't afford to hire it on one of the most popular days of the week – Friday and Saturday – and had to settle for Monday instead.
So in April 2004, there were only 21 people in the hall, but Martin persevered and by November, more than 500 people took part.
The event made Monday a special day, with several of the participants saying: "Thank God it's nearly Monday", which is now Martin's slogan.
